Optometrist Prescriptive Authority in NYS: An Update

Section 7101 of NYS Education Law 66.5 was updated to reflect changes in the scope of practice for optometrists. The article describes and update and review of Phase One and Phase Two Agents and the requirements concerning the prescribing of such products by licensed optometrists. Optometrist certification with corresponding letters is discussed.

Update on Pharmacy Statistics

A summary of pharmacy statistics is presented in table format indicating the number of pharmacies in each practice setting.

Institutional Pharmacies: Part I

This is the fourth in a series of six self-study continuing education articles that will appear in Pharmacy Law in 1998. The various categories of institutional licenses are presented in the article. Specific rules and regulations concerning inpatient and outpatient orders are addressed.
